About

Engineering Leadership Rooted in Innovation, Integrity, and Real-World Experience

I am a mechanical engineer with more than 35 years of specialized experience in the tire, track, and mobility systems industry, including deep expertise in composite structures, high-fidelity simulation, and advanced manufacturing. Throughout my career, I have worked at the intersection of engineering science, material behavior, and real-world performance — solving complex challenges and helping organizations bring safer, stronger, and more efficient mobility solutions to market.

My background includes leading engineering teams, designing next-generation tire and track systems, and contributing to the development of cutting-edge non-pneumatic tire (NPT) technologies. I am also a named inventor on 34 U.S. patents, many of which are foundational in the fields of composite mobility structures and tire system innovation.

Academic Foundations & Engineering Education

During my industry work, I taught mechanical engineering at multiple universities, developing and delivering coursework for both undergraduate and graduate programs. I feel education is part of my civic duty, so to speak. My academic specialties included:

  • Material Selection

  • Mechanics of materials

  • Finite element analysis

  • Creative problem solving

Teaching has and is shaping my ability to communicate complex engineering concepts clearly — a skill that translates directly into my consulting work and expert witness engagements.

Industry Expertise: Tires, Tracks, & Non-Pneumatic Mobility

My career has been anchored in the tire and track mobility industry, where I have worked across an exceptionally wide span of applications:

  • Commercial and passenger vehicle tires

  • Military and defense mobility systems

  • Heavy equipment and agricultural tracks

  • Specialty tires and emerging mobility solution

  • Development and commercialization of non-pneumatic tire (Tweel™) technology

As one of the original creators of the Michelin Tweel™, I bring firsthand knowledge of non-pneumatic tire architecture, structural mechanics, and design strategy. This includes spoke optimization, shear band design, composite laminates, material modeling, and advanced durability behavior.

Innovation & Intellectual Property

Innovation has been a core driver of my engineering career. Over the past three decades, I have been named on 34 issued U.S. patents, with contributions spanning:

  • Pneumatic and non-pneumatic tires

  • Elastomeric composite system

  • Advanced materials and manufacturing approaches

  • Mechanical system optimization

My patent work informs much of my present consulting — particularly when advising companies on design strategy, feasibility, and intellectual property positioning.

Clear Communication & Expert-Level Insight

Whether developing a new product or providing forensic analysis for legal teams, I approach every project with:

  • Rigorous engineering analysis

  • Real-world testing experience

  • Clear, concise communication

  • Objective, data-driven conclusions

  • Strategic recommendations based on decades of applied problem-solving

I understand the importance of delivering findings that are both technically sound and easy for non-engineers to understand, particularly in legal contexts and multidisciplinary engineering teams.

Consulting Philosophy

My consulting approach is grounded in three principles:

1. Precision

Every analysis — from finite element modeling to failure investigation — is rooted in accurate physics, validated methods, and clear reasoning.

2. Practicality

Solutions must work not just in theory, but in the real world. I draw on decades of hands-on testing, field evaluation, and product launches to guide practical outcomes.

3. Partnership

Effective consulting is collaborative. I work closely with clients to understand their goals, adapt to their constraints, and provide honest, solution-driven guidance.

Industries Served

My work spans a wide range of sectors, including:

  • Pneumatic and non-pneumatic tires

  • Track and track systems

  • Defense and military systems

  • FEA modeling, dynamic testing of polymers, elastomers

  • Startups and emerging mobility companies

  • Legal firms requiring expert testimony

  • Research institutions and universities
